Repton School, founded in 1557, combines a high academic standard with excellence in a rich variety of other pupils. The original School is on the site on an 11th Century Priory, some of whose buildings are still in daily use, and the School is well integrated in the vibrant and historic village which surrounds it.
Repton is fully co-educational. The School fosters moral and spiritual awareness, high personal standards and good manners, and encourages every pupil to enjoy a broad range of subjects and activities - academic, creative and sporting - so that each individual develops his or her own particular talents. The School maintains a constantly high record of academic achievement and most pupils go on to university.
The House system is an important part of the Repton experience. Pupils regard their House as their Home and pastoral care is of the highest quality. Each House is set in its own grounds and is responsible for its own catering. The family atmosphere is strengthened by the presence of Housemasters, Housemistresses and Matrons within the House.
The impressive Music School and Art School and our highly qualified staff provide the basis for our flourishing traditions in Art and Music. The many pursuits include a School Orchestra, Concert Band, Ensembles and a Choral Society.
The School has won a national reputation for tennis and hockey and is well known for its cricket and football. In addition, a wide range of sport is played at competitive levels throughout the School.
Activities include a thriving Combined Cadet Force, pursuit of Duke of Edinburgh Awards, Adventurous Training, Debating, Drama, Community Service and educational visits and expeditions abroad.
In recent years the School has invested in new Boarding Houses, expanded Information and Design/Technology Centres, a Sports Complex including indoor sports hall, a swimming pool, indoor tennis courts and floodlit sportsturf. A third Girls' Boarding House opened in September 1997.
